Road Shows
The November Road Shows have been cancelled because of very low registration. After much soul-searching, Virginia Tech decided to not hold the November Road Shows. We will be in touch with persons already registered.
Here is the question: Should we hold the Chatham and Abingdon Road Shows in February? Please let us know your thoughts. Several of you already said November is bad timing since many of you are still maintaining lawns, renovating landscapes, and blowing leaves.
Enrollment is good for the two Road Shows already scheduled for February (Harrisonburg and Fredericksburg)
The Virginia Tech Turfgrass Team in partnership with the Virginia Turfgrass Council and Virginia Cooperative Extension is pleased to present the 2023 Virginia Turfgrass Road Show at the Southwest Higher Education Center in Abingdon on Thursday, November 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Road Show is a state conference-level educational program brought to your area in order to save you and your employees time and money. The program is led by the VT Turf Team with special guest speaker, Dr. Becky Grubbs-Bowling. Dr. Grubbs-Bowling is the University of Tennessee’s new extension turfgrass specialist. There are several categories of CEUs available for certified fertilizer and pesticide applicators in Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina, as well as CEUs for certifications in professional associations like GCSAA, SFMA, VNLA, etc. Vendors – there is dedicated time in the program for attendees to meet and greet with you, so take advantage of the opportunity of becoming a Road Show sponsor where you can discuss updates on the products and services you provide with your clientele in one location. The event is free for VTC members and for others it is only $50 (includes lunch). Vendors, there are pricing options for sponsorships depending on whether or not you wish to participate in more than one Road Show this fall and next spring. Pre-registration is available online at https://vaturf.org/road-shows/ or you can register at the door. Any additional questions? Contact Mike Goatley at goatley@vt.edu.
