Pollinator Seed Packets

Thanks to generous support from TruGreen, the VTC Environmental Institute is preparing 25,000 pollinator seed packets. The packets are the endeavor of the brand new Institute. Our goal is to distribute seeds to (1) VTC members so can share with their clients; (2) members of Virginia's General Assembly; and (3) leaders in Virginia's metropolitan areas. Our goal is to have these custom made packets in hand by March 01.

Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds play an important role in sustaining healthy ecosystems and pollinating many of our fruits, nuts and vegetables. Join the VTC Environmental Institute in our efforts to enhance pollinator populations by planting season-long pollen and nectar sources.

Mix includes: Virginia Native Perennials: Purple Coneflower, New England Aster, Black-Eyed Susan, Lanceleaf Coreopsis, Columbine, Hyssops (Agastache foeniclum), and Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa); Self-Seeding Annuals: Cosmos and Zinnia

To plant: Scratch up bare soil in sunny area. Scatter seeds. Compress into soil. Don't bury. Water gently. Keep soil moist until 4-6" tall.

New Logo

Dawn Rigby of Xylem Marketing has worked with the Development Committee to design a logo for the VTC Environmental Institute. The Board of Directors approved that logo. Many thanks to Dawn for donating her time and expertise!
